New Malaysian Open champion Noh Seung-yul is all set to make an impact on world golf, according to seven-times U.S. PGA Tour winner KJ Choi.
Teenager Noh, became the youngest professional winner on the European Tour when he pipped fellow South Korean Choi by one stroke to win in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
"He is one of the most powerful young talents coming up," said Choi in a news release. "The way he controls and hits the ball is like no other.
Noh, at 18 years and 281 days, broke the 39-year-old European Tour record of South African Dale Hayes by nine days when he landed the Malaysian title.
Choi birdied the last hole to draw level with Noh in the event co-sanctioned by the European and Asian tours.
The teenager then showed nerves of steel by floating a superb chip shot from behind a hospitality marquee to within four feet of the cup before sinking his putt for a matching birdie and a one-shot win.

Camilo Villegas cruised to a five-stroke win Sunday at the Honda Classic and soared nine spots to No. 12 in this week’s official world rankings.
Tiger Woods remained No. 1 and the top nine was unchanged from last week with Steve Stricker, Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Paul Casey, Jim Furyk, Martin Kaymer and Rory McIlroy following Woods.
Henrik Stenson and Geoff Ogilvy moved up one spot apiece to 10th and 11th and were followed by Villegas, who has three top-eight finishes on the PGA Tour this year.

Spaniard Ignacio Garrido mastered a considerable climate change to tie the lead with Briton Rhys Davies on seven-under par before thunder halted play in the first round of the Malaysian Open on Thursday.
In-form Thai and world number 44 Thongchai Jaidee, the highest ranked player in the field, was again on song as he shot a six-under 66 to lie a stroke behind. Thirty players will return early on Friday to complete their opening rounds.
For 1997 Ryder Cup winner Garrido, without a European Tour win since 2003, his round of 65 was a welcome return to form, especially given the stifling heat.
"For me to come here with all of the differences there are between here and Madrid where I have spent the last couple of months playing in the snow, then it is a very good score," he told the tour website (www.europeantour.com).
Thongchai, who reached the quarter-finals of the WGC Matchplay Championship in Arizona last month, found the conditions equally stifling.
Former top 10 player KJ Choi of South Korea, now 96 in the rankings, carded a 67 to lie two shots off the pace.

Ai Miyazato’s second LPGA win in as many weeks moved her to No. 3 in the world women’s golf rankings released Monday.
Miyazato, from Japan, won the HSBC Women’s Champions tournament in Malaysia, using a final-round 3-under-par 69 Sunday to hold off a charge from American Cristie Kerr. She won the LPGA season-opening Honda PTT in Thailand the previous week.
She had one LPGA regular-tour title before this season opened but won 15 times on the LPGA of Japan Tour and opened 2010 ranked No. 8 in the world. The early-season success moved her to a No. 3 ranking. Lorena Ochoa is still in the first position and Jiyai Shin is #2.
She displaced Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, the runner-up in Thailand, knocking her to No. 4.

Lo más importante es que los niños pequeños aprenden por imitación y si ven practicar a los padres con gusto su deporte favorito, seguramente querrán intentarlo ellos también. Qué mejor que pasar juntos un buen rato en el green o incluso en el jardín de la casa, donde se les puede enseñar a sostener los palos y hacer sus primeros swings.
Se debe recalcar que en los niños la diversión es una prioridad que se encuentra por encima de la técnica y en la que deben enfocarse tanto padres como entrenadores. Si los niños no tienen diversión no mostrarán interés hacia el golf. Aceptando los tropiezos de cualquier actividad placentera se evitará el aburrimiento o la falta de motivación. Un niño que juega mal, no se divierte y si esto ocurre, lo abandona por aburrido y frustrante.
Algunas formas de comenzar su motivación en el juego una vez descubierto su interés por el juego son proporcionarles los utensilios de golf adecuados a su tamaño y fuerza, inscribirlos a clases de golf con niños de su edad, hacer divertido el juego y llevarlos a torneos de golf dónde podrán ver a los profesionales del golf.
No se les debe exigir, basta con que acudan a clase con ganas, tanto para aprender, como para hablar y divertirse con sus compañeros y el profesor.

TMZ reports that Tiger Woods is headed back to his home in Florida sometime next week and has pinpointed his return to golf according to someone who works for the Woods family.
He is aiming to play in the Tavistock Cup — an event that pits pros from the Isleworth Golf & Country Club against the pros from the nearby Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. This year’s event takes place March 22 and 23 at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club.
According to the source, after the tournament Tiger will start preparing for The Masters.
Tiger will be returning to his home in Windermere next week. Cleaning crews have been spotted around the outside of the home for the last few days.

LOS ANGELES - Donald Trump is at odds with officials in Rancho Palos Verdes over weddings at an oceanfront park next to his Trump National Golf Club.
Couples can pay less than $1,000 to get married at Founders Park, a 5.5-acre park with spectacular ocean views that sits behind Trump’s clubhouse.
The park has no bathrooms, limited parking and just a few benches. Trump says bridal parties that book weddings in the park assume they can use the facilities at his golf club where weddings can cost as much as $150,000.
Trump manages park rentals for the city and either wants out or an increase in wedding prices. Trump’s general manager David Conforti wrote a letter to the city saying the golf course is losing money on the deal.
Mayor David Wolowicz says the city is trying to work out a solution with the golf club.
